About our yoga teachers
Kathryn Young is offering ongoing Saturday morning 8.30 am and Monday morning 9.30 am classes.
“Welcome to a practice of connection — to your body, your breath, and your soul. I’m Kathryn, and my journey with yoga began in 1990, starting with a simple curiosity that soon transformed into a daily ritual, a prayer, and a steady companion through all seasons of life.
I completed my Hatha yoga teacher training in 2000 with Friends in Yoga and earned Iyengar certification Levels I and II in 2007 and 2009. These teachings deeply influence my approach to yoga, which is grounded in alignment, precision, and deep respect for each individual's body and journey.
Through my practice, I’ve learned how breath supports posture and how mindful movement can bring clarity, strength, and ease. My goal is to create a space where you can slow down, tune into yourself, and reconnect with the wisdom within. Whether you're new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, I offer a practice that's accessible and empowering for all.” ~ Kathryn
Meet the Shala founder Narelle Lullfitz
Narelle turns for inspiration to Mother Nature. As a mum, she has been learning the importance of practicing simple, efficient and effective health-care from long-term daily practice of Hatha Yoga and Ayurvedic medicine. She shares from her experience of practicing even the simple daily preparations that these great wisdom traditions offer us for Life.
Narelle Lullfitz was born into wildflowers. Her father ran a native nursery and from a very young age, her little hands dug seedlings into earth. Perhaps this is why she has always been so strongly drawn to natural healing pathways. She now has decades of experience in a range of modalities, including Ayurvedic Medicine, Yoga and Massage. Narelle is the founder of Palmyra Yoga Shala + Open Palms Palmyra, where she offers restorative classes, nourishing treatments, and a bespoke fair trade gift shop. Palmyra Yoga Shala is a large, beautifully restored space; home to cultivating village connection through projects, classes and workshops that invite people to go deeper into their reflective human experience. Built on an ethos of invitation, permission and exchange, the Shala’s village experience program is designed for delivering unique and relevant experiences.
Initially when studying Beauty Therapy (1997) Narelle was most inspired by the subjects of massage, facial treatments and aromatherapy, for their therapeutic qualities. From this she was introduced to the importance of food choices, daily routine, and movement practices for overall health of skin, inner-body and mind. This followed on to Natural therapies, flower essence therapy and then her introduction to the science of Ayurveda, which led her to studying clinical Ayurveda and its treatments. Then came yoga.
Narelle began learning Shadow (Hatha) Yoga in 2006 with teachers Sundernath (Shandor Remete) and Emma Balnaves. Their teaching introduced her to the simple yet profound foundations and preparatory practices of Hatha Yoga. She has continued to cultivate her practice and learning of Shadow Yoga with ongoing tuition and has been sharing restorative, meaningful movement within the community for fourteen years.
